About this Map

The Sauchie Green Map project was a pilot used by CVS Clackmannanshire to investigate using the Green Map System as a tool for effective community engagement in relation to Community Planning. Since April 2003 it has been a legal requirement in Scotland that all government agencies, public bodies and local authorities actively engage with the communities they serve in order that they receive the services they need and using a partnership approach, making the best use of available resources.
CVSC brought together local voluntary and community groups, primary schools and local residents to create a Green Map that focused on mapping "the things that make life worthwhile".
Through this process it became evident that what we needed were in fact two maps, the community, asset based map and a complimentary green map that we called the Green Safety Map. The function of the safety map was to highlight to agencies what needed to be improved, fixed or investigated in order to improve the local environment making it a more attractive and safer place to live.
This map also highlighted potential community action projects. One such project has currently just received funding from the Big Lottery and details can be found at http://www.bbc.co.uk/apps/ifl/breathingplaces/places/showrecord?11285
